Daisy
The daisy is a member of the Asteraceae or Compositae family. This is the biggest family of vascular plants. The different types of plants can be found all over the world. The flower is star-like, and the plant consists of over twenty-thousand different species. Daisy is the April herb according to the English Herbal Calendar. Daisies, also knows as Saint John's flower, are symbolic in the month of May to honor of St. John the Evangelist. Daisies symbolize innocence, simplicity, a newborn baby, sympathy and cheerfulness in the language of herbs. There can be multiple different colors of daisies, each symbolizing a different meaning. The red daisy means unconscious thoughts, while the white daisy is a symbol for innocence. Many people do not know that daisies are not just one flower. A daisy is made up of two types of flowers. They are disk florets and petal-like white ray florets. The stem of the flower is very smooth and does not have any leaves growing on it. Each stem only supports a single flower. The meaning of the flower is "loyal love." They are relatively easy to grow and spread well, meaning more blooms each year. It tends to spread as it grows and it blooms repeatedly from the summer into the fall.
