Tulip
Tulip flowers grow from bulbs and generally bloom in March and early April. However, with so many species, a tulip may bloom all summer. The stem shoots straight up towards the sky, and the blossom usually has about six petals. Tulip bulbs must be planted before freezing weather so that they have a period of time to be dormant between blooms. Tulips grown from seeds often need five to eight years of growth before plants are flowering size. Tulips are an ancient flower that was first originated in Persia. Unfortunately, these blooms are easily susceptible to rot. This type of plant has over one hundred species. Most tulips produce only one flower per stem, but a few species have up to four flowers. The stems can have up to a few leaves, with larger species tending to have multiple leaves and smaller species having no leaves at all. Tulips can possibly be infected with an infection disease that causes cell death and eventually rots the plant. Like most other plants, each color of a tulip has a different meaning. White tulips are symbols of Heaven, newness, and purity. Purple tulips resemble royalty. The tulip flower belongs to the family Liliaceae.

Tulips are my favorite type of flower. Spring is one of my favorite seasons because that is when all of the flowers start to bloom including tulips. They are my favorite because I love the different varieties of colors. I did not know that each color had a specific meaning.
